Golf Lessons Near Ocoee | Indoor TrackMan Coaching at AMGC
You live in Ocoee. You've taken a range lesson before, maybe two. Somebody watched you hit, said "keep your head down," and you went home with a bucket of tips and zero proof any of it worked.
Then July showed up. Then the 3 PM storms. Then nothing.
Here's a different way to do golf lessons near Ocoee. Book a lesson with Nick Duffy, the in-house AMG Certified Instructor at Athletic Motion Golf Club in Winter Garden, right next door. Indoors. Real numbers on the screen. Your swing on your phone when you leave. Already sold? Skip the rest of my rambling and book a lesson with Nick Duffy. All you need is an account on the website or the AMGC app.
Not sold yet? Fair enough, I'd want the tour first too. So here's the tour, bay by bay, minus the sales pitch.
Why Ocoee golfers take lessons indoors
Florida is great for golf. Mostly. It's also hot, it's sticky, and some afternoons it just pours.
At our place off Colonial Avenue, none of that reaches you. The whole club's climate controlled, so a Tuesday evening lesson stays a Tuesday evening lesson even when it's hammering outside. Doesn't sound like much on paper. Ask anybody who's rescheduled a range lesson twice in one August. A lesson you actually show up to beats a perfect one you keep rescheduling.
And there's a second reason, the one people don't think about. Conditions stay the same. No wind gusting your ball left. No wet mat. When your numbers change, it's because your swing changed. That's the whole point of a lesson, right?
You can come year round, too. January, August, whenever.
Who you'll work with: Nick Duffy
Nick is the lead AMG Certified Instructor at the club. He's the guy you book. He's the guy who'll be standing behind you.
AMG stands for Athletic Motion Golf, and the club is its home base. So you're getting the method taught where it lives, by the coach on site every week.
What's he like to work with? Ask him yourself. That's sort of what the first lesson is for.
Range lesson or indoor lesson? An honest gut check
Look, range lessons aren't bad. Plenty of people learned that way. But picture the last one you took.
Somebody stands behind you, says your hips are early, you nod like that made sense, and by the drive home all you've got left is a vague feeling and a sunburn.
An indoor lesson flips that. You still get a coach watching. You also get the numbers and the video, and they don't forget anything. So when Nick says your face is open at impact, you can see it. Then you can see it close. Then, two weeks later in a practice bay, you can check if it's still closed.
That's the difference. Not fancier. Just less guessing.
So if you've tried lessons before and they didn't stick? That's usually not you. It's the missing feedback.
Your first lesson, step by step
Nervous about walking in? Don't be. Here's roughly how it goes.
You warm up. Grab a few easy swings. Nobody's grading these.
You hit baseline shots on TrackMan. Your regular, slightly ugly, Saturday-morning swing. Don't try to impress anybody. TrackMan reads the Pro V1 coming off your face and the club itself, so your carry, your launch and that open face you swore wasn't open all land on the screen. Stuff you'd never feel out on a range.
Nick reads the numbers with you. Not a lecture. More like, "See this? That's why it's going right."
You watch yourself in slow motion. The bay records your swing on video. Kind of humbling the first time. Very useful.
You get one priority fix. One. Not twelve. The thing that'll move the needle most, and a way to feel it.
You leave with it on your phone. Your swing video gets sent to you, so you can actually see what you worked on later. No trying to remember what he said in the parking lot.
We won't promise you a number off your handicap. Nobody honest can. But you'll know exactly what you're working on, and you'll have proof of where you started. That's a much better place to practice from.
Ready? Book a lesson with Nick Duffy.
TrackMan in every bay, GEARS 3D when you need it
There are 8 bays at AMGC. Every one has TrackMan. So there's no fancy bay you have to wait for.
GEARS 3D is the other piece. It's a motion capture system that maps how your body moves through the swing. It's available in sessions with Nick. Not every lesson uses it, and honestly not every golfer needs it on day one. If Nick thinks it'll help, he'll tell you.
Curious? Here's what a GEARS 3D lesson looks like.
And if the lesson turns into a "maybe it's my clubs" conversation, True Spec Golf Orlando West does fittings right on site. More on that at the club fitting page.
Between lessons: keep the fix from fading
This is where most lessons die. You get the fix. You feel great. Then two weeks go by and your old swing walks back in.
So practice. Book a bay, hit the drill, check the numbers. The practice balls are Titleist Pro V1, which is a nice touch, but the real win is seeing whether the fix is holding.
We wrote a whole post on practicing near Ocoee between lessons if you want the details.
Coming in a lot? An AMGC membership gets you a private TrackMan bay plus discounted lessons with an AMG Certified Instructor. No initiation fee. No long-term contract. You don't need one to take a lesson, though. Start with the lesson. Figure out the rest later.
Booking, what to wear, and cancellations
Booking's easy. Use the website or the AMGC app. Lessons are open to non-members, so you just need an account.
What to wear? Athletic clothes. Athletic shoes without spikes or nubs. Bring clean clubs (the mats and screens will thank you).
Need to cancel? Here's how it works. Cancel 14 or more days out and you get a refund, minus card fees. Inside 14 days, you get a credit. No-show, and the session is forfeited. So if something comes up, tell them early.
One more thing. Lefty or righty, you're welcome. Every bay works for both.
