GEARS 3D Golf Lesson in Winter Garden: See What Your Swing Is Really Doing
You've watched your swing on video. Maybe a hundred times. It looks fine, or at least it looks like it did last month. And the ball still goes where it goes.
Here's the catch with a regular camera. It shows you what happened. It doesn't show you why. The why lives in how your body turns, when it fires, and which part leads. You can't see that from the outside, and honestly, neither can most of us from the tee box.
This is where a GEARS 3D lesson comes in. It's 3D motion capture, it's inside Athletic Motion Golf Club in Winter Garden, and you book it with Nick Duffy. Not every lesson uses it, and we'll get to that. But if you've been guessing, this is the lesson that stops the guessing.
So what is GEARS 3D, exactly?
Short version: full body 3D analysis of your swing. Rotation, sequencing, path. Instead of one flat angle on a phone, you see how your body really moves, in three dimensions.
It's a big piece of equipment, too. We're talking a $50,000+ system. That's a good reason it isn't something that comes with every bay rental. It's a lesson tool, and you get it when you book it.
And here's the part people like. Once your own motion is up on the screen, you quit nodding along. You're pointing at the thing yourself.
Who this is for
If you've practiced plenty and your scores haven't moved, you're the obvious one. A plateau usually means you're working on the wrong thing, and 3D data is good at showing you the right thing.
But it isn't only for stuck golfers. Returning after a long break? Great time to get a clean picture of where your swing really is now. Heading into tournament play? You'll want to know what holds up. High school or college player trying to build something that lasts under pressure? Same deal.
Brand new to the game? Come on in. Do you need the 3D on day one? Maybe not. Keep reading.
GEARS lesson, TrackMan lesson, or just a bay?
These are three different things, and mixing them up is how people end up paying for the wrong one.
A bay rental is you, a private TrackMan bay, and your own plan. You hit balls with Titleist Pro V1s, you see ball and club numbers, you can send slow-motion video to your phone. No coach. It's great for practice. Pick one miss, watch one number, and you can get a lot out of an hour.
A TrackMan lesson with Nick adds a coach to all that. The listing says TrackMan and video. GEARS isn't in there by default.
A GEARS 3D lesson with Nick is the one with the motion capture. It lists GEARS 3D, TrackMan, and video together. So you get the ball and club story from TrackMan, plus the body story from the 3D.
Which one should you pick? If the ball is doing something strange and you want a coach on it, TrackMan with Nick might be plenty. If you've done that and still feel like something is hiding, or you simply want the full picture of how you move, book the GEARS lesson.
What a lesson with Nick is like
Nick is the club's in-house AMG Certified Instructor and the lead coach at the Winter Garden location. He's worked with players across the whole range, from first time golfers to tournament players. He's quick at finding what's holding you back, and the plan he builds comes from that. It isn't a canned fix.
So expect this. You walk in. You tell him what's bugging you. He looks at your swing with the data in front of him, and you leave with a plan you can actually practice.
We're not going to walk you through a minute by minute script, because a good lesson follows you. What we can say is that the plan is the point. You shouldn't walk out with ten new thoughts. You should walk out with something to work on.
And if you want to practice that plan later, you've got eight private bays with TrackMan in every one. Pro V1 balls, slow-motion video to your phone, a place to repeat the thing Nick gave you until it sticks. That's the loop. Learn it in the lesson, own it in the bay, then take it to the course on Saturday.
How to book it
Say you've picked your day. Open the lessons page and look for Nick's name. Right under it you'll see a few lesson types, and the one you want is the listing with GEARS 3D in it. Tap that, scroll the calendar until a time fits your week, and pay right there. Done. Prefer your phone? The AMGC mobile app does the same job. And if you're a member, hit the member button so your rate comes through.
Prices? Not here. The lessons page has the current numbers, and I'd rather you see those than a figure that went stale.
Do you need a membership first? Nope. Lessons are open to everyone. Members do get a discount, and the membership itself comes with discounted lessons with an AMG Certified Instructor, so if you're already planning to come back, that's worth a look.
Why this works in Winter Garden
Think about your usual lesson problem. It's a Florida summer afternoon, it's sticky hot, a storm's building, and your lesson just turned into a rain check. Indoors, none of that matters. You walk into a room with the tech, the coach, and the one thing you want fixed.
Where is it? Right off Colonial Avenue in Winter Garden. Golfers also come in from Orlando, Windermere, Clermont, Ocoee, and Horizon West. The club is home to Athletic Motion Golf, and Mike Granato and Shaun Webb are behind the Athletic Motion Golf method. When it's lesson time here, you're booking Nick.
One small thing to know. Lefties and righties are both welcome here, GEARS included.
Quick answers
Does every lesson include GEARS 3D?
No. GEARS 3D lessons are their own listing with Nick. A regular TrackMan lesson doesn't include it unless you book the GEARS one.
Can I use GEARS during a bay rental?
No. GEARS is for lessons with Nick. A bay rental is TrackMan.
Do I have to be a member?
Nope. Lessons are open to non-members. Members get a discount.
How much does a GEARS lesson cost?
Check the lessons page for the current price. It's the one place we keep that number up to date.
Who teaches the GEARS lesson?
Nick Duffy, the club's in-house AMG Certified Instructor and lead coach in Winter Garden.
I'm a beginner. Is this too much?
It doesn't have to be. Nick coaches first time players too. Start with whichever lesson feels right and ask him about the rest.
Can I book on my phone?
Yes. Use the lessons page or the AMGC mobile app.
Is the club set up for lefties?
Yes. Every bay works for lefties and righties, and so do GEARS 3D lessons.
