Golf School in Winter Garden: One Hour with Nick, or One Day?
If you've been typing "golf school winter garden" into your phone, you're probably past the point where a quick tip is going to do it. Maybe you've had a lesson or two and it felt like the hour ended right when things started to click. Or you've got a free Saturday coming up and you'd honestly rather spend it working on your swing than guessing at it with a bucket of balls in the heat.
We run both here at Athletic Motion Golf Club, the one-hour lesson and the half or full day school, so let's just talk it through like you walked up to the front desk and asked.

Golf school or golf lesson, what are you actually after?
A lesson here is an hour. It's you and a coach, one or two things to look at, and you head home with something to take into your next practice. A school is a bigger block of time with a small group, which means there's room to look at your swing, try the change, hit a lot of balls with it, and then look at it again before you leave. So really it comes down to how much runway you want.
Our schools are run by Shaun Webb and Mike Granato. They founded Athletic Motion Golf, and between them they've got close to 40 years of coaching. The club in Winter Garden is the home of AMG, so when you sign up for a school you're learning the method from the two guys who built it, in the building where Nick teaches it.
The one-hour path, with Nick
Nick Duffy is our in-house AMG Certified Instructor and he's the lead coach at Winter Garden. If you want an hour, you're booking Nick. There's a TrackMan and video lesson, and there's also a GEARS 3D lesson option with him if you want to see your body motion in 3D. We'd rather you check the current prices on the lessons page than read a number in a blog post, so that's where to look.
An hour works well when one thing is bugging you. Say your driver keeps leaking right. Nick can look at the TrackMan numbers and the slow-motion video with you, figure out what's going on, and give you a plan for it, and you can send the swing video to your phone so you've got it later in the week when you practice on your own.
It's also just easier to fit into a normal week. You don't have to clear a whole day for it, and if you want to keep going, you come back for the next piece.
What a half day or full day looks like indoors
Schools run monthly and they're capped at six golfers. A half day is three hours, and you pick the morning session from 9 to noon or the afternoon session from 1 to 4. For a full day you book both of those, so you're here from 9 until 4 with a break in the middle. It's all indoors at the club, which in Florida means the rain and the afternoon heat don't get a say in it.
Shaun and Mike build a GEARS 3D session into each school, and the lessons page says you get data and video on every swing while you're with them. With three or six hours to work with, there's time to actually use all of that. GEARS is 3D motion capture, so instead of somebody telling you your hips are early and you nodding along, you can see what your body actually did, and then TrackMan shows you what the ball did right after.
How Shaun and Mike split up the time is their call, and we're not going to invent an agenda for you here. But from your end it helps to show up with a plan. Think back over your last few rounds and pick the miss that cost you the most, maybe it's a slice, maybe it's chunked wedges, and tell them about it at the start so they know where you're coming from.
As for what to wear, dress like you're going to the gym. Golf clothes aren't required. Wear athletic shoes without spikes or those spikeless nubs, and make sure your clubs are clean before you walk in. You won't need to bring balls either, since the practice balls are Titleist Pro V1s. And if you're doing the full day, eat something at the break, because six hours of swinging is a lot more than a normal range session.
Lefty or righty, you're welcome. Every bay works for both.
What's included, and what isn't
The half day is $900. A full day is $1,800. Both are listed on the lessons page, and either one gets you the GEARS 3D session with Shaun and Mike plus data and video on your swings, in a group that tops out at six people.
What it doesn't get you is GEARS the rest of the time you're here. If you rent a bay or come in as a member to practice, you're working with TrackMan and video, not GEARS. GEARS is only available in sessions with Nick or in the schools with Shaun and Mike, and even with Nick it's the GEARS 3D lesson that has it, not every TrackMan lesson.
If you're already a member, your membership comes with discounted lessons with an AMG Certified Instructor, and there's a member option to tap when you book. And you'll also see a 3-day school and private days with Shaun and Mike on that same page. Those are their own thing, honestly, and if that's what you're looking for, the details are all there.
One hour or one day?
If you're newer to golf, or you're coming back after a few years off, an hour with Nick is probably the gentler way in. You get a plan and you didn't have to give up a Saturday to get it.
Now, if you've taken lessons before and the changes keep falling apart once you're practicing on your own, that's where a school starts to make sense. You're here long enough to hit a lot of balls with the new move while someone's still watching, and that's really the whole reason to book a block of time.
Not sure? Start with the hour. You can always come back for a school later on, and nobody here is going to think twice about it.
The group size matters too. With six golfers at the most, there's real attention to go around, but you're also not standing alone in a bay with a coach staring at you for three straight hours. Some people like that, some people don't, and you probably already know which one you are.
Why do it in Winter Garden
The club's at 1230 Winter Garden Vineland Rd, Suite 108, right off Colonial Avenue. If you live in Winter Garden, that means the founders of the method you're learning are running a school right here in town once a month, and you don't have to plan a trip around it.
The part that's easy to miss is what happens after. A school gives you a lot to work on, and Nick teaches here the rest of the month, so when you want someone to check whether the change stuck, you can book an hour with him and keep going with the same method instead of starting over with somebody new.
Golf school FAQ
Do I need to be a member to sign up for a school?
No. Lessons and schools are open to non-members.
When is the next school?
We don't put dates in a blog post because they change. The schools run monthly, and the open dates show up on the calendar when you tap the booking button under Shaun and Mike on the lessons page. If you can't find one that works, call us at (850) 604-4653.
How do I book?
You can book right on the website or in the AMGC mobile app. In the app it's under "Lessons & Fittings," and then you pick your coach and scroll the calendar for a date. You pay when you book. If anything gets stuck, email [email protected].
What if I need to change my date?
If you're more than 14 days out, cancel and you'll get a full refund minus any credit card processing fees, or just reschedule. Inside 14 days, your fee can go toward a future appointment, so email support and they'll make sure the credit gets applied. If you don't show up at all, you lose the fee, so please let us know.
Is a school a good idea if I'm a beginner?
It can be. That said, if you've never had a lesson anywhere, an hour with Nick first will probably feel less like drinking from a fire hose.
I'm in Windermere or Ocoee. Is it worth coming over for a school?
Sure. The lessons page already lists Windermere and Ocoee among the places golfers come from. The school is indoors, so you're not checking the forecast the night before, and if you want follow-up, Nick's here for that.
Will a school lower my handicap?
We can't promise you that, and you should be a little skeptical of anyone who does. You'll walk out having seen your swing in 3D next to the ball data, and you can send the video to your phone so it's there when you practice.
